Summary: Diaphragm compressor safety requirement of pressure parts, fireproofing and anti-explosion, lubricating oil, cooling water, personnel protection, electric and hoisting.

1. General safety requirement

1.1  Universal safety requirement

Before operation, the operator of the compressor must receive formal training and be familiar with structure, principle, specification of the compressor as well as correctly master the operation methods and safety precautions.

Don’t casually start the compressor without serious safety inspection.

Any violation of safety rules of operation may result in equipment damage or endangering personal safety.

Contact with the design department of manufacturer before modifying any part of the compressor system.

1.2 Safety requirement of pressure parts

In the compressor gas path system, the buffer tank, intercooler, gas-liquid separator and gas cylinder are pressure parts. User should contact with local labor department and accept supervision before installing such pressure vessels.

Safety valve and accessories should be maintained well and examined termly.

The compressor system is prohibited to be operated in the condition of overtemperature and overpressure.

Do not fasten the bolt or tear down the pressure accessories (including crankcase and cover) when the compressor is working or there is pressure within the system.

1.3 Fireproofing and Anti-explosion requirement

The installation, use and operation of compressor for compressing flammable, explosive or toxic gas should conform to relevant provisions.

Before infusing flammable, explosive gas, the air in the compressor system must be completely replaced by nitrogen or inert gas .

Inside the station, there should be measures to prevent taxic gas accumulation after leaking. The discharge outlet of the gas path system (discharge outlet of safety valve, sewage drain exit of chiller etc.) should joint with conduit to release or collect the gas in the out-of-door safety zone.

Electric equipment should comply with the required explosion-proof grade of compression medium.

1.4 Requirement of lubricating oil

The compressor should use the type of lubricating oil pointed by manufacturer, and its quality should comply with regulations. Different types of lubricating oil shall not be mixed. Lubricating oil should be replaced periodically.

1.5 Requirement of cooling water

Cooling water should be kept clean to prevent incrustation scale of water pipe.

The cooling water quality requirement is following:

1.5.1 Suspended matter of organic impurities and mechanical impurities should be less than 100 mg/L, and the oil content is less than 5 mg/L.

1.5.2 Close to neutral, the PH is 6.5~9.

1.5.3 It exhibits thermal stability, and temporarily the hardness is below 10°.（Note: The hardness means that there is 10mg or 19mg MgO within per litre water）

The water should be filtered and purified if it does not meet above requirements.

Urban drinking tap water is allowed to be used as cooling water.

1.6 Personnel protection

While the compressor is working, people and clothes are forbidden to touch moving parts such as transmission belt, chain, coupling fan blades etc..

Don’t touch cylinder wall or exhaust pipe to avoid scalded.

1.7 Electric requirement

The installation and maintenance of the compressor electrical equipment should conform to relevant provisions of electric safety.

The operator must have the corresponding qualification certificate of electrician operation, and work under electrical technician’s guidance. Shut off the power before repairing electrics, and designated personnel should be arranged for monitoring and warning signs be placed.

1.8 Safety requirement of hoisting

The hoisting equipment and its bearing force should meet the requirement of the hoisted equipment. Pay attention to personal and equipment safety in the hoisting process. The packaging box generally is made of solid wood, and the hoisting follows figure 1-1.

The angle between hoisting rope and roof can not be less than 45°, if not, ancillary shoring should be added between the hoisting rope (its length is equal to baseboard’s width).
